Heights Events

The Heights is a cool place to live. It becomes even more so as the heat goes away and you can enjoy outdoor events again, and not just suffer through them.  These events become even more delightful as the holidays approach.

It may seem I’m late in promoting these events happening tomorrow, but I’m actually early for the same events next month Winking smile

Two monthly Heights events are tomorrow, November 5th (and also next month for those of you who can plan ahead): Heights First Saturday, and the First Saturday Arts Market on W19th.

Heights Event - Heights First Saturday

Heights First Saturday was founded in 2002 as organization of businesses whose goal is to bring visitors to the Heights on the first Saturday of every month, enhancing the visitors’ understanding of this unusual neighborhood, its architecture, historical significance, and its one-of-a-kind businesses. Stroll up and down the shops, galleries and restaurants of W19th St. Pick up a map of all the other participating Heights businesses.
Heights Event-First Saturday Arts Market

First Saturday Arts Market is back Saturday from 11am to 6pm. Featuring nearly 50 artists, with Rory Jagdeo performing at 11 and Carrie Ann Buchanan & The Apocalyptics at 3pm. Food trucks Good Dog Hot Dog and Porch Swing Desserts and Greeni Recycling!

Located by Wind Water Gallery and Gen’s Antiques at 548 W. 19th Street, Houston, Texas.

One last item is in my neighborhood of Woodland Heights:Free Movie Night at Woodland Park.

This free movie night sponsored by Woodland Heights Civic Association at the corner of Parkview and Houston Ave. is Saturday, Nov. 5th starting at 7:30 p.m. (or when it gets dark enough!).

The evening’s feature is A League of Their Own, (rated PG) starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Madonna. This comedy is about two sisters who join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed.

The movie will be shown in the grassy area on the east side of the community building. We will have free lemonade and popcorn, but feel free to bring a snack of your own! We encourage all to either walk or ride your bikes….parking is limited. Also, bring your lawn chairs or blankets, and don’t forget the bug spray! Details and map provided by artshound.com.
