Video of Historic Heights Home Transformation

Historic Heights Home is on the Spring Home Tour

The transformation of the historic Heights home at 1845 Harvard St. in  East Heights Historic District was amazing. It went from a vacant run-down 1500 SF cube that had been stripped of its distinctive features to a showcase home of 4000+ SF.

HDT Builders remodeled/expanded this home and sold it a couple of years ago. 1845 Harvard is now going to be on the Houston Heights Home Tour in April.
HDT Builders gutted the house and stripped off the old stucco. Next, following an old photo of the house archived at the downtown library, HDT rebuilt the side pergola; put back the parapet on top. The original, unique doors and windows were rebuilt and made to work again. They even put awnings on the house to keep it historically accurate.
The expansion of the house, was major, expanded from 1500 SF to 4000 SF, but not noticed from the street.

1845 Harvard – Renovation of Mediterranean Revival Home

I am posting this home again, even though I sold it a couple of years ago, because it is on Houston Heights Home Tour.

You can visit this home on the home tour next week and maybe even meet the creative force and construction supervisor of the project, Dee Todd Simmons. She and Dave Hatcher are the principals of HDT Builders, LLC.

The new owners of this historic Heights home, Dr. Steven Schroder & Mrs. Elizabeth Hanks purchased the home in 2015. They are kind enough to put it on this Spring’s home tour, and Dee has volunteered to be a helper for this open house.

In case you don’t get a chance to visit, here are two YouTube slideshows of the house. One video  shows construction underway, and the other is the completed masterpiece.

The YouTube video below shows the house after completion and staging.

HDT Builders is one of the premier builders in the Heights. They are currently looking for a great lot for their next home(s). If you know of one, contact me. I need to keep these two busy.
In the meantime they have another Heights historic project home under contract. Another uniquely styled home that will be transformed. I will write more about it after it closes.
