Cottage Grove is similar to Shady Acres. It is an area of predominantly new homes. The little homes that preceded them were rarely worth remodeling.
Sunset Heights
Sunset Heights is the NE part of the Heights; between E 20th St and the 610 Loop. Very popular now for new construction.
Shady Acres
Shady Acres is a different world from the Heights even though it is just west of it (west of N Shepherd). It is strictly an area of new construction: mainly homes in groups with a common drive.
Lindale Park
Cottage style homes predominate in this 1940;s neighborhood just east of the Heights. (East of I-45). The light rail runs down its west border which I believe will transform this neighborhood.
Oak Forest
Oak Forest is huge (~5500 homes) and hugely popular 1950’s neighborhood of ranch style homes. It has transformed lately into a neighborhood of beautifully remodeled homes and much larger, much more expensive new homes.
Garden Oaks
Garden Oaks has about 1400 & was formed in 1937. Big tree-lined lots on curving streets. It was to be the next River Oaks. The post-war homes became smaller.
Houston Heights
Houston Heights is the oldest and largest of the “Heights” neighborhoods. Formed in the 1890’s, it is dominated by Victotian style homes and Craftsman homes.
